Ghanaian women account for more than 50 percent of the population, yet they remain underrepresented in critical sectors such as politics and media.
The Ghana Women Expert project counts the number of women featured in the news as experts through surveys.
This project seeks to highlight gender inequality and the erasure of women's voices in the public sphere. The survey is undertaken through the monitoring of selected flagship radio snd television programs.
This research was conducted by Nana Ama Agyemang Asante and Betty Kamkam-Boadu, journalists based in Accra, with support and funding from the City University of London's Journalism Department.
